During the school year, 22 million kids receive free or reduced-price meals, but only 4 million continue to receive meals during the summer. We created Feeding Our Future® to help close the gap and ensure children get the nutritious meals they need to thrive.
In 1997, Sodexo launched Feeding Our Future in three cities and served 25,000 meals in its first year. Since its inception, the program has provided 5 million meals to children nationwide. Feeding Our Future owes its success to the longstanding partnerships between Sodexo, our client and vendor partners, and local hunger-relief organizations.
Feeding Our Future focuses on:
- Providing free and nutritious meals to children at risk of hunger during the summer months
- Securing the support of resources and partners to assure program sustainability
- Generating awareness and support for problems and solutions related to the issue of childhood hunger in America
During the summer of 2016, Sodexo's Feeding Our Future program provided 406,185 free healthy meals to kids in 23 cities.
