OUR ACTIONS

Globally, Stop Hunger focuses on support to local communities for those most in need, support to social entrepreneurs to set up innovative systems to fight against hunger and malnutrition, and assistance in case of emergencies or climatic disasters affecting entire populations in areas of chronic hunger.

Locally, we focus on the following common activities: Servathon, Food Recovery and Donations, Cause-related Partnerships, Payroll Giving, Point-of-Sale, and Community Gardens.

In the US, we provide additional support through the following programs:

  • Feeding Our Future® – A summer meal program where Sodexo partners with hunger relief organizations to provide free nutritious meals to children. Watch the video: A Day in the Life of Feeding Our Future
  • Backpack Food Program – A program of local food banks that Sodexo supports to provide backpacks filled with non-perishable food to students in need that they can take home and eat when school meal programs are unavailable.

Servathon

Sodexo sets aside the month of April to join forces globally to fight hunger in their communities. Employees gain gratifying experiences while developing important team-building skills. Servathon activities include fundraisers, food drives, volunteering at food banks, donating surplus food, and payroll deductions.

Food Recovery and Donations

Sodexo donates surplus perishable and non-perishable food to Feeding America members and other local food banks across the country. All Sodexo-operated food service operations are encouraged to donate safe surplus food to local food banks. Donating food that would otherwise go to waste not only feeds hungry people, but also helps the environment by reducing food waste.

Community Gardens

Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation funds many community garden projects through our YSA partnership and the Youth Grant Program. Community gardens provide opportunities for those in need to eat fresh fruits and vegetables that they may not have the opportunity to buy. Gardens also educate children on the importance of eating healthy.
