OUR ACTIONS

Stop Hunger focuses on 3 fields to increase its impact:

  • Local community support to those most in need
  • The empowerment of women, who represent the most effective solution to eliminate hunger in communities
  • Emergency assistance in case of natural disasters affecting entire populations.

...and 6 actions common to all countries:

SERVATHON

Servathon

An event held between April and May each year, Servathon is a key moment for mobilizing all volunteers to work with local NGOs to serve free meals, collect food and raise funds. Today, we work with 450 NGOs in 43 countries.

Surplus food distribution

While Sodexo teams make every effort to eliminate food waste at the restaurants, we offer the daily surplus to local associations or NGOs for redistribution to those in need. This transaction is subject to the laws in force in each country, which can be more or less favorable toward food redistribution. When unfavorable, we work to change the law.

Payroll giving

All Sodexo employees have the opportunity to contribute to Stop Hunger by donating a small portion of their monthly salary, with an equal amount donated by Sodexo. In the U.S., this operation raises nearly $700,000.

VOLUNTEERISM

Volunteerism

We encourage two forms of volunteering:

  • Hands on volunteering that requires no special skills other than the heart, the willingness to offer time and to act for change.
  • Skills-based volunteering for those who perform missions for NGOs who need specific skills. For example, an accountant can help an NGO to organize and manage its accounting.
COMMUNITY GARDENS

COMMUNITY GARDENS

Community gardens

This action has two objectives:

  • Provide opportunities for those in need to grow and eat their own fresh vegetables and fruits that they may not have the opportunity to buy.
  • Educate on the importance of eating fruits and vegetables.

We fund community garden projects run by NGOs around the world that pursue one or both of these two objectives.
